Madras-Colombo Regatta Returns to Chennai for the 84th Edition

The Madras Boat Club (MBC) was the proud host of the 84th Madras-Colombo Regatta on Saturday, July 19, 2025, in Chennai, marking a continuing tradition of over a century of sporting camaraderie between India and Sri Lanka.
First held in 1898, the Madras-Colombo Regatta is widely regarded as one of the oldest international inter-club rowing regattas in the world, preceded only by the Oxford–Cambridge and Harvard–Yale races. The annual event alternates between the Madras Boat Club and the Colombo Rowing Club playing host.
This year’s regatta featured fiercely contested races in the men’s and women’s categories across single scull, double scull, coxless pair, and the coxed fours.
The MBC crews claimed the coveted Deepam Trophy (Men’s Overall) and the Adyar Trophy (Women’s Overall) was claimed by CRC.
